Monochromatic minimalism; contemporary interpretation of classical photography by Bastiaan Woudt
In collaboration with Willas Contemporary, we have the pleasure of showcasing photographic works by a new star in the world of contemporary photography, Bastiaan Woudt (NL, 1987).
Bastiaan began his career ten years ago, without experience or formal training. He has now developed into a photographer with his own distinctive signature style – abstract yet sharp, with a strong focus on details. Woudt has a keen affinity for the classical, such as portraits and nudes, and there are references to earlier periods throughout his work, including surrealism and documentary photography from the 1960s and 70s. Through a sophisticated use of both camera and post-production techniques, he has created his own graphic and entirely contemporary twist on the classical.
In conjunction with the opening of the new exhibition, we invite you to this year’s first breakfast lecture in Ivar’s matsal, where we will hear about Bastiaan’s exciting journey regarding his contemporary interpretation of classical photography.
