On International Women's Day, we are proud and happy to present our fantastic sous chefs, Ulrika Sandbrink leading the kitchen at Klara Stockholm and Linda de Groot doing the same at Ivar Stockholm.
Today, it's important not only to lift up and celebrate our amazing female chefs but also to continue pushing for increased equality and inclusion within the culinary industry. Although the industry is still strongly male-dominated, we have seen an increase in female chefs receiving recognition for their skills and creativity in recent years. Titti Qvarnström, who was awarded Sweden's first Michelin star to a female chef, and Emma Bengtsson, who received two Michelin stars at Aquavit in New York, are examples of women inspiring others to pursue their dreams.
Despite these successes, gender gaps persist within the Swedish culinary industry. Women still face obstacles to career development, including stereotypes, unequal pay, and lack of representation in leadership positions. Additionally, the demanding nature of kitchen work can pose particular challenges for women, especially those balancing family responsibilities.
But there is hope and signs of change, so let's continue working together for an industry where everyone, regardless of gender, is given equal opportunities to thrive and inspire future generations!
